The trailer for my motion picture documentary, "Barbara Stephens In China -- The Untold Story, premieres tomorrow on YouTube at 9 PM EDT. Bold, brave, and beautiful, American journalist Barbara Stephens (1922-1947) journeyed 2400 miles overland across China, by truck convoys, military transports, and pack animals, to reach the embattled Xinjiang province and "get the story that only I know,” in the midst of the great Chinese revolution of 1945-1949. Fluent in Chinese, she met Communists, Nationalist officials, politicians, soldiers, poets, peasants, and spies from every nation, while leaving a trail of would-be boyfriends in her wake. Now, for the first time, her story is told, in her own words and those of her friends, family, and colleagues, with original, never-before-seen photographs, letters, and artifacts from her travels.
